The Rise of the Roses Summer Tour is coming to St. Mary’s Abbey, Glencairn, Lismore, Co. St. Declan’s Way Walk – Cashel to Cahir Bookings are now being taken for the upcoming St. Declan’s Day Walk with the Knockmealdown Active Team on Saturday July 25th along the scenic first portion of St. Declan’s Way, from the Rock of Cashel to Cahir. National Pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick 2015
– Garland Friday – July 24th (Local Pilgrimage) Mass on the summit at 10.00 a.m. Mass in Croagh Patrick car park at 7.30 p.m.
– Reek Sunday – 26th July Confessions on the summit from 7.30 a.m. – 2.00 p.m. Mass on the summit every half hour from 8.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.
Youth 2000 Summer Festival will take place at Cistercian College, Roscrea, from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th August. For young people aged 16 – 35, this is a great opportunity to find out what your Catholic faith is all about in a friendly, chilled out atmosphere. The festival is donation only. The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) The members of the PPC meet monthly to reflect on our Parish. We try to discern the areas of greatest need and how we might be able to reach out to these. We need a few more people to help us in this service. The next meeting is in the Parish Centre at 8.00 p.m. on Monday 31st August.
We pray for the repose of the soul of Peter Cronin late of 58 Honeyview Estate who died last week.

“1. ‘’LAUDATO SI’, mi’ Signore’ – ‘Praise be to you, my Lord’. In the words of this beautiful canticle, St. Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us. ‘Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs’.
2. This sister now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her. We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will. The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, in the water, in the air and in all forms of life. This is why the earth herself, burdened and laid waste, is among the most abandoned and maltreated of our poor; she ‘groans in travail’ (Rm 8:22). We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth (cf. Gn 2:7); our very bodies are made up of her elements, we breathe her air and we receive life and refreshment from her waters”.
