Parish Pastoral Council A meeting of the PPC will be held on Monday 10th March at 8.00 p.m. New members always welcome.
Service of Light for the girls and boys who are making Confirmation on 30th March will take place next Tuesday 11th March at 8.00 p.m. We will keep them in our prayers as they prepare for Confirmation.
Reconciliation Service for our First Communicants will take place in St. Oliver’s Church next Thursday 13th March at 8.00 p.m. We look forward to seeing them here with their parents/guardians and teachers.
Lenten Scripture Reflection/Prayer takes place every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m., and continues each Tuesday for 6 weeks. This is a time of quiet reflection and prayer, so please feel free to come along and experience it for yourself. You are MOST welcome. Just “come and see”. Venue: 21, Heywood Heights. The Parents Council of the Presentation Secondary School are holding a Church Gate Collection on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March.
Praying the Psalms with Fr. Michael Mullins DD will take place over two nights, Tuesday 18th March and Tuesday 25th March at 7.30 p.m. at St. John’s Pastoral Centre, Waterford. Fr. Mullins will help us to reflect on how we pray the Psalms, by exploring their richness.
Caring for the Carer will take place at Glencomeragh House, Kilsheelan on Wednesday 26th March from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. This is a gentle day of empowering, self-care that will focus on you, and your needs as a care provider. Forms of Friday Penance
The following are suggested as ways of fulfilling Friday penance:
– Abstaining from meat or some other food;
– Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking;
– Making a special effort at involvement in family prayer;
– Making a special effort to participate in Mass on Fridays;
– Visiting the Blessed Sacrament;
– Making the Stations of the Cross;
– Fasting from all food for a longer period than usual and perhaps giving what is saved to the needy;
– Helping the poor, sick, old or lonely.
