St. Oliver’s Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)  A good number of parishioners, male and female have, over the years, served on the Pastoral Council (previously called the Parish Council). The PPC has recently welcomed three new members. Current members of the PPC are: Michael Carroll, Elaine Downey, Gidolf Lazarus, Mandy Dalton, Meta Cunningham and Michael Hegarty P.P. Any of these members may be contacted through the Parish Office.

The PPC normally meets on the first Monday of each month (except in August) and, in an atmosphere of prayer and reflection, tries to discern the real needs of the Parish and search for ways to meet these needs. The PPC is always open to suggestions from the parish community and from people who have made St. Oliver’s Church their normal place to worship.

World Day of Emigrants and Refugees   –   18th January 2015

“Jesus Christ is always waiting to be recognised in migrants and refugees, in displaced persons and in exiles and through them he calls us to share our resources and occasionally to give up something of our acquired riches” (Pope Francis)

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity  –  18th to 25th January 2015

The theme this year is from Jesus encounter with the Samaritan Woman at the well “Jesus said to her ‘Give me to drink’ (John 4:7)”

The encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan Woman invites us to try water from a different well and also to offer a little of our own. In diversity, we enrich each other.  The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a privileged moment of prayer, encounter and dialogue. It is an opportunity to recognise the richness and value that are present in the other, the different, and to ask God for the gift of unity.

Catholic Schools Week  –  25th to 31st January 2015

The theme is “Catholic Schools: Called to Serve”

Service is in Love, Kindness, Joy, Truth, Justice
